NAIROBI, Kenya — The Agricultural Finance Corporation [AFC] has announced the appointment of Mr George Kubai as the Corporation’s Managing Director, the Corporation said in a statement to press.

Mr Kubai takes over from Mrs Rose Ochanda, who has been the Acting Managing Director since October 2020. Mrs Ochanda is the Corporation Secretary.

During his maiden address to the media, according to the Corporation, Mr. Kubai said that his key focus areas will include growing AFC’s portfolio through aggressive mobilization of additional resources, injecting efficiency into AFC’s operations to ensure they are lean.

Prior to joining the Corporation, he worked at National Oil Corporation of Kenya [NOCK] where he was the General Manager, Downstream Operations.

Mr Kubai has held senior managerial positions in commercial banks, insurance companies and multinational corporations, having worked with Equity Bank, Sanlam Kenya [Pan African Insurance Holdings] and Coca Cola Company among others.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Maseno University and Masters of Business Administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
